HSC was well represented in the honours list at CCC's Silvers Marine Scottish Series over the late May holiday weekend:

  • Winner of CYCA Class 4 and the Tarbert Shield for best performance in CYCA Handicap classes - "Enigma" - Howard Morrison
  • Winner of the Sigma 33 Class and the Anchor Hotel Trophy for best one-design class performance - "Mayrise" - James Miller

Also featuring at the front of the fleet were Allan Lennox - finishing second in the Sigmas in "Miss Behavin'" and Clive Reeves in "Lyrebird" who was second overall in CYCA Class 7 (Restricted Sail).

The 2017 event featured just about all the extremes of weather that even Loch Fyne can offer - "champagne sailing" in Friday's sunshine, NO sailing in Saturday's flat calm, and the more traditional hotch-potch of sunshine, showers and RAIN on Sunday and Monday. The event's race management held together to make the most of the variety of conditions, and did well to achieve 80% or more of the planned races.

Both "Enigma" and "Mayrise" turned in sparkling results and were worthy winners of their classes and the overall CYCA Handicap and one-Design trophies.

No rest for the wicked though! "Mayrise" and the other HSC Sigmas will be back in action when the club hosts their "Nationals" on 9-11 June ... and the Race Officer is ... Howard Morrison. Bring it on!
